The single piece Contractor Hinge Jig is designed for recessing hinges in wooden doors & frames with a plunge router.
- It is easy to use with minimal setting-up time, completing the job both accurately & quickly.
- Used on-site & in joinery shops to increase productivity with excellent results.

- No need for marking out in the conventional way.
- Quick & simple to set-up as the hinge is used as the pattern.
- Clean & accurate recesses are achieved every time. Suitable for timber based doors & square butt hinges.
- Can be used on both inside and outside doors, rebated frames and on maximum 25mm thick fixed stops.
- Use with a light duty plunge router with 1/4 inch collet.
- Long reach router cutter required, 12mm diameter with 70mm overall length.
- Angled position slots to prevent creep.
- Unibase may be needed.
- T4EK router requires a ref. UNIBASE or special guide bush ref. GB/T4/160.

No, this will not do 1/4" and 5/8" radius hinges.
All of our jigs strait from the box will produce a 6mm radius, a 0.25 inch radius would be 6.35mm.
Yes, you can, but you may have to use a different combination of cutter and guide bush. If the hinge corner radius is 10 mm, which is standard, then you would need to use a 20mm diameter cutter and a 24mm guide bush. Reference numbers are 4/6 and GB24 respectively.
This is just a recommendation because of the heavier weight of the router which makes if difficult to recess the top hinge on the door lining or frame.
The Hinge Jig includes the jig complete, 2 bradawls for fixing the jig, T handle hex key for adjusting the jig and the appropriate guide bush GB160, the only other item required is the cutter Ref: 3/8LX1/4TC.
No, not without re positioning.
If you fit a GB240 guide-bush, which has a 24mm diameter and longer spigor) and use a 20mm diameter cutter e.g. Ref: TR20DX1/4TC then it will work because the offset between the cutter and the guide-bush still remains 2mm each side.

The corners need to be squared with a chisel because the router cutter leaves a radius. We offer a corner chisel ref. C/CHISEL which has a High Speed Blade for this purpose. The chisel is placed in the recess and hit with a hammer, this creates a square corner.

Some heavy duty routers like the T12/T14 can be a little heavy to handle, therefore the T4, T5 or the T18S/R14 are best suited.

Yes, in theory if you can measure the size of the radius, match it up with a suitable cutter diameter and then add 4mm to find the right size guide bush.
It allows the length of the hinge to be accurately recessed because it allows for the gap between the guide bush and cutter (4mm ).
We recommened using a 3/8LX1/4TC or C019A Trend router cutter.
The swivel end plate sets the gap around 2mm between the top of the door and head of the door?
Yes, providing that the hinge leafs are not abnormally large.
